What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy helps clients manage daily life despite mental or physical health challenges. Mental health can impact physical health, and vice versa therefore a holistic approach is essential. Occupational therapy focuses on your participation and engagement in daily life.

Occupational therapists teach and impart techniques that address for example over-thinking, worry, and overwhelming emotions. The objective is to establish new habits and routines that promote well-being and self-worth. Sometimes this can be as simple as adjusting bedtime routines to encourage restful sleep or it may involve creating a calming sensory space at work to reduce distractions and lower stress levels.

To address this, an occupational therapist meets clients where they are – in their reality – to help them live independent and meaningful lives.

Following the path of self-discovery usually leads to growth, fulfilment and a meaningful life.
